Description
Bucci Villa Bucci Verdicchio Riserva 2005 (Villa Bucci Riserva, Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva) is one of Italy's great white wines and shows how far Verdicchio can go. With more than 20 years behind it, the 2005 is a rare chance to taste a mature Verdicchio of the highest class.
Taste and ageing
2005 is golden and complex, with citrus, yellow fruit, almond, beeswax and honey, still with fresh acidity and a long, saline finish. It is ready now and will keep for 10 years or more.
Vineyard and winemaking
Villa Bucci comes from the family's oldest vines in the hills around Montecarotto in the Marche. The vineyards are farmed organically, and the wine is aged for a long time in large, old casks, which add calm and texture without marking the flavour with oak.
About Bucci
The Bucci family has owned land in the Marche for generations, and under Ampelio Bucci, Villa Bucci has become one of the most respected names in Verdicchio. The Riserva is made only in the best years and is known for developing over decades.
