Description

Vietti Barolo Riserva Villero 2009 (Vietti Villero Riserva, Barolo DOCG) is Vietti's most sought-after Barolo and is made only in the best years. The 2009 has been rated 100 points by Wine Advocate and 95 by Vinous.

Taste and ageing

With more than 15 years behind it, the 2009 is mature and generous, with cherries, dried roses, tobacco, liquorice and leather. The tannins are firm but fine, and the finish is long. It is ready to drink now and will still keep for 15 years or more.

Vineyard and winemaking

Villero lies in Castiglione Falletto and is one of Barolo's most esteemed vineyards. The wine is made from old Nebbiolo vines and is aged for a long time in large Slavonian oak casks. Often only a few thousand bottles are made.

About Vietti

Vietti is based in Castiglione Falletto and helped make single-vineyard Barolo known when Alfredo Currado bottled one of the first Barolos from a single vineyard in 1961. Villero Riserva was first made in 1982, and each vintage gets a label drawn by an artist.
