Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino 2016 (Valdicava Brunello, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG) is Brunello from one of Montalcino's most respected estates and from one of the great vintages. The 2016 has been rated 99 points by James Suckling and 97 by Jeb Dunnuck.

Taste and ageing

Balsamic, tea, dark berries and roasted coffee, intense and focused, with ripe tannins and a long, elegant finish. It will keep for 25 years or more.

Vineyard and winemaking

Valdicava lies in northern Montalcino. The wine comes from the estate's oldest vineyards, with vines of up to 50 years, and matures for four years in barriques and large Slavonian oak casks.

Serve at 16–18 °C in large glasses, ideally after an hour in a decanter.
