Description
Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Bianco 2023 (Terre Nere Etna Bianco, Etna DOC) is white Etna from one of the producers that put the volcano on the wine map. The 2023 has been rated 92 points by Vinous.
Taste and ageing
Citrus, white pepper and stone, taut and concentrated, with fresh acidity and saline, mineral length. It can be enjoyed now and gains with time, ideally 8 years or more.
Vineyard and winemaking
The grapes come from 25–60-year-old vines on the volcano's cool northern slope, 600–900 metres up. Carricante is the backbone, supported by Catarratto, Inzolia, Grecanico and Minnella. The wine is made entirely in stainless steel, so the black volcanic soil comes through clearly.
About Terre Nere
Tenuta delle Terre Nere was founded in 2002 by Marc de Grazia, and the vineyards are farmed organically. The estate works with Etna's contrade, the historic single vineyards, much as Burgundy works with its crus, and is today one of the most respected names on Etna.
