Description
Ornellaia Bianco Toscana 2018 (Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Ornellaia Bianco, Toscana IGT) is the rare white wine from one of Bolgheri's most famous estates. The 2018 has been rated 96 points by James Suckling and 95 by Decanter.
Taste and ageing
Citrus, grapefruit, white flowers, sage and flint, with body, fresh acidity and great length. The 2018 now has a few years in bottle, is open and complex, and will keep for 15 years or more.
Vineyard and winemaking
The wine is based on Sauvignon Blanc with a little Viognier and Verdicchio from selected plots in Bolgheri. It is fermented and aged for around 12 months in French oak and then rests in bottle before release.
About Ornellaia
Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in Bolgheri in 1981 and is today owned by the Frescobaldi family. The estate is world famous for its red Ornellaia and for its sister estate Masseto. Ornellaia Bianco was first made in 2013 and is produced only in small quantities.
