Nervi-Conterno Gattinara 2018

Nervi-Conterno Gattinara 2018 (Nervi Conterno Gattinara, Gattinara DOCG) is Nebbiolo from Alto Piemonte, from the oldest producer in Gattinara. The 2018 has been rated 95 points by Vinous and 94 by Wine Advocate.

Taste and ageing

Red berries, roses, tar and spice, fresh acidity and fine tannins with a long, mineral finish. It can be enjoyed now and kept for 20 years or more.

Vineyard and winemaking

Gattinara lies in northern Piedmont at the foot of Monte Rosa, where the soils are volcanic. Nebbiolo, known here as Spanna, gives a tauter and more mineral style than in Barolo. The wine is aged for three years in large Slavonian oak casks.

About Nervi-Conterno

Nervi was founded in 1906 and is the oldest producer in Gattinara. In 2018 Roberto Conterno of Giacomo Conterno in Monforte d'Alba took over the estate, and with him Gattinara is once again in focus as one of Nebbiolo's great places.

Serve at 16–18 °C in large glasses.
