Description
Tenuta di Biserno Lodovico 2019 (Biserno Lodovico, Toscana IGT) is the flagship wine of Tenuta di Biserno in the Alta Maremma, close to Bolgheri. The 2019 has been rated 97 points by both Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck.
Taste and ageing
2019 is deep and concentrated, with blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, cedar and graphite. The tannins are silky and the finish long. Give it time in a decanter now, or keep it for 25 years or more.
Vineyard and winemaking
Lodovico comes from the Bellaria vineyard and is made only in the best years and in very small quantities. Cabernet Franc is the heart of the wine, with Merlot and Petit Verdot alongside, and the nearby sea brings both power and a cool freshness.
About Tenuta di Biserno
Tenuta di Biserno was founded by the brothers Lodovico and Piero Antinori in Bibbona, just north of Bolgheri. Lodovico Antinori is the man behind Ornellaia, and at Biserno Cabernet Franc plays the leading role. The estate is today counted among Tuscany's most ambitious.
