Castello di Ama L'Apparita 2020 (Castello di Ama Apparita, Toscana IGT) is one of Italy's most acclaimed Merlots. The 2020 has been rated 99 points by Vinous and 98 by Falstaff.

Taste and ageing

2020 is intense and velvety, with dark cherries, blackcurrant, violet and cedar, silky tannins and fresh acidity. It can be enjoyed now and kept for 20 years or more.

Vineyard and winemaking

The wine is 100% Merlot from a small 3-hectare vineyard at 490 metres in Gaiole in Chianti. The altitude gives Merlot a freshness rarely found in warmer areas. L'Apparita was first made in 1985 and is aged for 18 months in French oak.
