Description
Il Marroneto Rosso di Montalcino Selezione Iacopo 2020 (Il Marroneto Jacopo, Rosso di Montalcino DOC) is a selected Rosso that comes close to the estate's Brunello. The 2020 has been rated 95 points by Vinous and 93 by Wine Advocate.
Taste and ageing
2020 is fresh and deep, with red cherries, redcurrant, rose petals and tobacco, firm but fine tannins and a long, floral finish. It can be enjoyed now and kept for 15 years or more.
Vineyard and winemaking
The grapes come from 350–400 metres just north of the town of Montalcino. The wine ferments spontaneously in open wooden vats and is aged in large, old casks, preserving Sangiovese's freshness and perfume.
About Il Marroneto
Il Marroneto lies just outside Montalcino's town walls and has been owned by the Mori family since the 1970s. Alessandro Mori makes wine on classic principles, with spontaneous fermentation and large, old casks, and has made the estate one of Brunello's most acclaimed names.
