Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino 2020 (Il Marroneto Brunello, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG) is classic, purist Brunello and among the most acclaimed in Montalcino. The 2020 has been rated 97 points by James Suckling and 96 by Wine Advocate.

Taste and ageing

2020 is elegant and lifted, with rose petals, mint, cherries and crushed stone, a poised structure and a long, mineral finish. It will keep for 25 years or more.

Vineyard and winemaking

The grapes come from 350–400 metres just north of the town of Montalcino. The wine ferments spontaneously without added yeast and matures for 39 months in large, old casks, so the fruit and the place come through clearly.

About Il Marroneto

Il Marroneto lies just outside Montalcino's town walls and has been owned by the Mori family since the 1970s. Alessandro Mori makes wine on classic principles, with spontaneous fermentation and large, old casks, and has made the estate one of Brunello's most acclaimed names.
