Taste and ageing

2020 is harmonious and intense, with ripe cherries, dried flowers, tobacco and spice. The tannins are firm, the acidity fresh and the finish long. Give it an hour in a decanter now, or keep it for 20 years or more.

Vineyard and winemaking

Pian delle Vigne lies a few kilometres south of the town of Montalcino, where warm days and cool nights give Sangiovese both ripeness and energy. The wine is 100% Sangiovese Grosso, Brunello's own version of the grape, and is aged for more than two years in large oak casks, the traditional way of making Brunello, before further rest in bottle.

About Antinori

The Antinori family has made wine in Tuscany since 1385 and is now in its 26th generation. The house is behind some of Italy's best-known wines, including Tignanello, Guado al Tasso and Cervaro della Sala. Pian delle Vigne joined in 1995 and is the family's take on the classic Montalcino style.
